Research Focus

My current research focuses on men’s health, specifically engaging men with health and wellbeing to enhance population health and gender equality in health. Currently I am in involved in the implementation and evaluation of a community-based men’s health initiative ‘Sheds for Life’ which is delivered in Men’s Sheds in Ireland. The initiative brings targeted and tailored health promotion opportunities to Sheds with a focus on normalising meaningful conversations about health and wellbeing for men who participate. The research uses an implementation science approach led by participatory research approaches to enhance the acceptability and sustainability by working closely with men in Sheds as well as other key stakeholders.
