A lively simulation game workshop as part of IF-Oxford 2025

IF-Oxford is an annual festival of Science and Ideas, held all over the city. The festival includes an amazing line-up of workshops, talks, experiences and installations, and we were pleased to be invited to take part again this year.

Oxfordshire County Council kindly provided the amazing collaboration space in the central library for this event – truly a great location. Our participants were a very mixed group, including some younger people and one who had returned having enjoyed last year’s workshop (He’s not the first – many people come back for ‘another go’ at this experience)

Did they achieve a balanced world during their trip into the future? Well, mostly. The economy was booming throughout our trip. The environment endured risky levels of degradation but this team brought it back around quickly once they understood the impact of the economic growth they were creating.

Time to think

They had a tough time balancing the need for resources across all the different parts of the world they were building for the future. They were short of time too. We are always short of time.

And this is ‘just a game’.
Imagine if our real world looked like that too?
Oh!
Wait a minute . . . perhaps it does?
