As the Global Academy grows we need to grow our team. We are a mostly volunteer organisation and we are looking for more help to get the word out to researchers worldwide about their contributions to the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

We would like to invite volunteers to complete fellowship projects with us over the next 2 years. Fellows will learn a great deal about online communications and related technical fields as part of a small, very experienced team.

You will bring knowledge and expertise from your own discipline to work part-time on a specific project over 3 to 6 months, as well as contributing to our wider, ongoing communications work.

What to expect as a Global Academy Communications Fellow

You will be a full member of our team taking part in both strategic and regular decision making.
You will create a solid real-life portfolio of communications work in support of the SDGs.
Your research and day-to-day work will contribute to growing our network of researchers around the globe.
You will have access to a unique group of people worldwide who share your commitment to the 2030 SDGs.
Your own research and interests will be reflected in the work you undertake as well as the regular communications work that keeps the Global Academy growing. We have some project ideas for fellows to work on, and your own ideas will also be welcome.
This is not a paid position right now. We have some fundraising planned but we’d like to begin recruiting our first Fellow/s quickly.

What we will look for as we select our first Fellow/s

You might be based anywhere in the world with access to an adequate broadband connection for weekly meetings during UK office hours.
You will have strong written and spoken English. Additional languages will be an advantage and an interest in video and/or graphic communications will also be helpful.
You are eager to learn more about image creation and management, persuasive writing, new social media platforms, such as Mastodon, BlueSky and Threads, and current changes in online communications.
Your own research work and career progress will benefit from this Fellowship
Some understanding of the SDGs framework will be helpful, and you will undoubtedly refresh this as part of your application.
You might also have a technical interest in the options Activity Pub will offer for digital communications (and if you don’t understand this, don’t worry. It’s only an option and a hazy one at that)
