Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a renewable, abundant, and cheap C1 feedstock. The use of CO2 as a carbon source to produce fuels and value-added chemicals is of great importance for the sustainable development of our society. I design homogeneous catalysts for the transformation of CO2 and H2 to C2+ products via C-C bond formation. C2+ chemical products have higher economic value and are easily marketable but largely produced from fossil fuel resources. We are building a sustainable approach to producing basic chemicals from a waste material. To reinforce sustainability research in this direction, green solvents are applied as reaction media.
