Research Focus

My PhD project is focused on the most lethal form of tuberculosis in South Africa and worldwide, namely tuberculous meningitis. It is a disease that remains understudied in an organ that is complex and vulnerable. In particular, knowledge about how rifampicin enters the brain is surprisingly limited. This work is done in collaboration with clinical and basic researchers locally and abroad.
