I have become fascinated with the interaction between conservation and contemporary indigenous peoples. This spans the natural sciences, environmental & social anthropology, political ecology, and archaeology. Through working in South Africa and Cameroon, I have developed a passion for indigenous rights, and am basing my work on the mounting evidence that indigenous and local peoples are the best protectors of biodiversity. Environmental justice forms the underlying motive, and I am investigating how this intersects with current day conservation issues.
