My primary research focus involves freshwater biofilms and their role in the removal of pollutants and in ecosystem functioning.
I conduct basic and applied research with biofilms (bacteria, algae and fungi) and their responses to anthropogenic disturbances such as nutrients, metals, herbicides and microplastic particles. I also participate in the scientific committee of several citizen science projects, such as AppEAR, GeoVin and Caza Mosquitos, to monitor environmental and health-related issues in Argentina.
