Research Focus

My geologic interests are broad, but primarily lie in the fields of igneous petrology, volcanology, tectonics, and economic geology. These interests are focused on understanding: [1] how magmas form and are modified; [2] relationships between volcanism and tectonism; [3] temporal, spatial, and mass relationships between magmatism and precious metal mineralization; [4] physical volcanology of silicic magmatic products and their eruptive systems; [5] volcanic stratigraphy, including tephrostratigraphy.

Projects

  • Mantle plume-lithosphere interactions adjacent to the Snake River plain (U.S.A.)
  • Electrum nanoparticles in epithermal systems; Lithium in A-Type rhyolites
  • Subduction-related magmatism in shallow-slab settings and along slab-edges
