The Institute for Solid State Physics is seeking applications from young researchers to work with Prof. Kitagawa on characterizing electronic states of matter under high pressures, searching for pressure-driven novel electronic phases, and developing new measurement technologies under pressure. Prior research experience in high-pressure experiments is not required. Willingness to engage in collaborative research is desirable.

Qualifications and requirements

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. or an equivalent degree, or be on track to earn one before the start date.

Start date

As soon as possible following the receipt of a job offer.

Duration of appointment

The initial appointment is for five years, which can be extended for five more years if performance is satisfactory.

Probation period

Fourteen days from the start date of employment (as defined in article 8 of UTokyo’s “Rules on Employment Conditions”)
