The Institute of Solid State Physics invites applications from young researchers who, as members of the Kobayashi Laboratory, will develop state-of-the-art laser systems and explore their applications as well as new spectroscopic methods.

The researcher will be responsible for supervising graduate students, joint use, and collaborative research within and outside the institute, as well as exploring the interdisciplinary area between optical and materials science.

Qualifications and requirements

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. or an equivalent degree, or be on track to earn one before the start date.

Start date

As soon as possible following the receipt of a job offer.

Duration of appointment

The initial appointment is for five years, which can be extended for five more years if performance is satisfactory.

Probation period

Fourteen days from the start date of employment (as defined in article 8 of UTokyo’s “Rules on Employment Conditions”).
